I have finally finish my exams, the last one was yesterday morning! It was maths C4 and it was probably the most stressfully anticipated exam ever so I am very happy that now it is over! So I've been busy revising of course but thought that I should get this out before I start wanting to talk about all the mens show showing in Milan at the moment, so here we go, here are the Resort 2012 I like.

We are getting fantastic colours again but now instead of bright fluorescent, the colours are a little more faded, or off. So we see lots of mints and mustards lurking around everywhere. If there weren't colours, then there are prints: those amazing, exotic, tropical, wild flower prints we see at Givenchy, The hawaiian inspired prints at stella mccartney or the Navajo and mexican squares at Proenza Schouler. While Mr. Pilati took a different turn at YSL, sailing that is. A mixed of 40's sailor inspired stripes match with bold 80's seashells and anchor accesories. It was a bit like female sailors on shore leave with those cute stripey dresses followed by those flowy dresses at the end that remind us of those pin ups of that era. And Lanvin did what they do best; flowy, long, feminine yet powerful and directional.

Rumours| The Future of Fashion. Karl L., Stefano P. at YSL, Alber Elbaz and Olivier Theyskens

What is going to happen to the future of fashion? Rumour has been circulating that Stefano Pilati, the current creative director and designer of the Parisian fashion House, YSL maybe stepping down from his position after 10 years. This is no news since we have been hearing about this forever. His monochromatic palettes which included navy blue, black (of course) and white is what people call his "signature." But are we getting bored? YSL ready-to-wear never really stood out to me significantly in both women and men collection. As a fan of minimalism, this is quite odd to me.
Hedi Slimane, Raf Simon and Christophe Decarnin has been approached as Pilati's replacement but has turn them down as quoted by Saint Laurent's partner Pierre Bergé:

"He'd rather see it killed and the legacy remain untouchable, observed only from afar through exhibitions, films, auctions, etc. As his foundation still controls the YSL archives, he can and does make life difficult for whomever wants a closer look at the house's DNA. Furthermore, while the CEO of YSL is an excellent businesswoman, she is, as they say, a ball-breaker. So the job isn't a walk in the park, to say the least."

    So so so...
We have also heard that Karl Largerfeld will be retiring from his position at Chanel after 2012 - His 30th Anniversary. Which Lanvin Elber Albaz will take over and Olivier Theyskens who was previously with Nina Ricci and currently with Theory will be the next successor of Lanvin. Rumours are rumours, true or not, We still wonder if these changes are for the better? Does this mean Lanvin will change or will we ever see Baptiste Giabiconi and Freja Beha Erichsen ever again on the campaign of Chanel?

Caran d'Ache by Alber Elbez

On Tuesday I was in Saville Row and I visited Lanvin. A huge store displaying mainly suits(Surprise, surprise.) Well on the glass table there was a big red box filled with exploding colours, as I look closer I see that it is the Caran d'Ache Supracolor box by Alber. It contains 120 original colours.

Caran d'Ache of Swizerland was named after the french cartoonist, Caran d'Ache who drew political caricatures for newspapers such as the Lundi du Figaro.

I have been using Caran d'Ache before I even l knew how to pronounce the name, my mum bought me a huge three tiers box which was in a shiny, sturdy silver case. My elder brothers and sister were furious. I had a lot of fun with it and grew up using it.

The box retail at Lanvin store for 450 pounds.
Interested? No? Should I get one?
