Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2011

    Jil Sander Website

The best of minimalism and the best of this season maybe? These clothes were tailored impeccably with a minimal approach that Jil Sander does so well. It is reminiscent and I guess compliments the menswear collection. It is all about colour blocking and proportions. These clothes will photograph really well and the colours will look stunning(every fashion editor's dream). The colour of this season is definitely orange, we have seen it everywhere, they are even creeping into the makeup. I love Jil Sander and I really appreciate minimalism so this was a nice and clean break from all the other design, almost an escape. Love Love Love.
I am really digging the plastic bags, I think they are so creative, minimal and so cool, I would get one if they are not ridiculously expensive. I am also loving the bold man-eating flower prints that really just pops among the rest of the collection.Source URL: http://naturalbellescloset.blogspot.com/2010/09/

Paris Holiday

Current Obsessions: (Satiny/Silk) Scarves

    © GQ Style

The horrid weather in London has driven me to look for perfect scarves (yes plural.) I am obsessing over buying accessories at the moment, I don't know why. I just got new scarves from Lanvin last week and it was a dangerous move because I know I will keep going back to buy more in other colours and prints and fabric..(i'm drooling already.) Anyway scarves are fun, you can dress them up for school and down depending on your mood.
Most of these are from Lanvin way back in the Fall/Winter 2009, I just love how they tie the silk scarf in a little notch and let the rest flows. This season though is about chunky knits which I have plenty already and is not as excited about. Dries Van Noten scarves also caught my eyes, it had a soft light flow in contrast with the constructed suits. Happy scarf-ing people.Source URL: http://naturalbellescloset.blogspot.com/2010/09/

Edible Things: Maison de la Truffe

Almost everything on the menu includes truffle which is the main theme of the restaurant hence the name. The restaurant was quaint and everything inside looked modern and sleek. The menu was a great mix of traditional french cuisine with a twist. I had the lobster, tried some racked lamb and some fish. It was probably one of the best lobster I had in a while and I miss it a lot. To finish off, I had a truffle vanilla Crème brûlée and Panacotta which was amzing. Hopefully, I'll get to go back to paris soon. Miss you paris.
I think you can actually find their products which consist of truffle oils (blanc et noire) and truffles at Harrods.

Best Day Ever!

James Long Menswear Spring/Summer 2011

Love Love and Love. At London Fashion week, I am loving James Long, consider him added to my favourite list and will definitely be hunting for these next season! I love knits and prints and this James Long's collection was just the perfect combination of both. I am really intrigued by the use of colours and the effective layering. There are plenty of details and patterns everywhere but for me it is not too overpowering or distracting. The painted fabrics were also amazing. Those shorts are to die for. The backpacks were also a very cute touch.
The trends here: Desert boots + chunky socks. Loose fits and chunky knits. Layering of long coats(again!), tees/tanks and shorts. I have a pair of Desert boots in the exact same colour and I love them, got them from Tod's and they are now pretty old but looks even cooler! I cannot wait!
I'm leaving for Paris tomorrow, I'm so excited. I wish you all a very good week end and keep checking back.

Current Obsessions

In my Current Obsessions, I will be talking about what I'm currently obsessed with or want. I am obsessed with lot of things all the time and it could be products, shoes, magazines, food, clothes, anything...
I am obsessed with so many things at the moment and cannot wait for Exeat. I am dying to shop and these are just a couple of trends that I love.
Chunky Knits: I love chunky knits and oversized sweater, they are beyond comfortable, and this season it is all about chunky/cable-linked 50/60's inspired knit (watch Mad Men as a reference: I am completely obsessed with that too.) I also like the ideas of layering parka and tank tops, I love layering in the winter, it adds dimension to the look. I am once again looking for more stripes, I find them so hypnotising and I'm sure I will keep buying stripe tees. Lastly, I am also into the asymmetric jacket, they are easy to wear and very versatile for many looks. Anybody have any ideas where I can find a good jacket?

Paris Calling

Dear Readers, I am very happy to say that this weekend I am going on a very brief get-away to Paris with my mother. I am beyond excited, it has been awhile since I last visited. There will probably be some shopping and maybe a visit to the Versailles. There will definitely be a lot of good food and plenty of Ladurée macarons. I will definitely take some photos and tell you how the trip went. I will try and blog at the end of the day hoping that there are internet at the hotel. Anyway very excited and will definitely do some research about little vintage stores that I can visit.Source URL: http://naturalbellescloset.blogspot.com/2010/09/

Yigal Azrouël Men Spring/Summer 2011

    © by Vogue

Clean-cut, simple, green just like grass. Yigal Azrouël Men(and women) collection was one of the best. I could see myself wearing all of these pieces and I will definitely cash out next Spring! A very interesting mix of light and airy fabric which together bring a sophisticated simplicity that I really respond to. The accents of bright colours were just perfect especially the yellow "ankle warmers" popping out from the sandals. My favourite look was the parka on Charlie Westerberg (second model from the left.) I should start rocking the long coat/ shorts look!
I'm not sure but soon he may become my favourite designer, I women show was also intriguing. Which shows were your favourite?

Model of the Day: Bastiaan Ninaber

Bastiaan Ninaber is a model from the Netherlands and has been established since being photographed by Hedi Slimane becoming the face of Dior Homme in 2007. Since then he appeared in countless editorials including GQ, VMAN and featured on the cover of L'Official Italia with multiple pages spread. He also became the face of Cerutti in 2009 and most recently appeared in H&M ad Campaign 2010 with fellow supermodel Abbey Lee Kershaw and Josh Beech.
He is also prominent on the runway appearing in most shows that include Alexander McQueen, Dries Van Noten, Robert Geller, Rag & Bone and Jean Paul Gaultier just to name a few.
He is very unique, I think he could be very classic and yet modern and edgy. The freckles and his features are just riveting. I am always excited to see him in editorials and on the runway. He is definitely a standout and not just another high-cheeked good-looking model.

Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2011

    © by ELLE

Mouthwatering, tropical, ravishing, jaw-dropping - those are SOME of the adjectives that could describe Marc Jacobs' explosion of colours at NY fashion week. The atmosphere was mostly fun and very wearable, the very definition of Marc Jacobs. He admitted to being inspired by other designers from previous collections such as the one-shouldered satiny dress from Lanvin, Quilted purse from Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent pouffy blouse, and definitely Missoni chevron knits. (He admitted to it!) It looked new and the clothes had its own personalities.
The one shoulder blouse with the sheer wide trousers in maroon and pink is very Thai, I must say and the oversized orchids was just a representation of a very tropical summer. The play with volume was fantastic, especially the dress Hannah Holman was wearing (In the pink cape on the far right.) The flows of the collection was feminine, delicate and flows from beginning to end. The collection is definitely a stand out for me and is one of my favourite. The model walked around a coppery wave that curved around the stage with big bouffant hair which was inspired by Grace Coddington ( Don't we all lover her).

3.1 Phillip Lim Men SS11

    © by Vogue
Here are my favourites. I love the tan and the nude from this collection. I am a huge fan of outerwear even for summer. These clothes are so accessible. I am digging the preppy school boy vibe since I still am a school boy. I am loving the sheer knitwear on Lasse Pedersen(the red head) and the sport jackets. Everything seem so clean and fresh, very reminiscent of spring. I am also dying over the tan leather shorts! Great styling and very cool for summer. View the rest of the collection on the link above.

Justin Wu's Boys & Girls of New York Fashion Week SS2011

Backstage: NARS at 3.1 Phillip Lim Men's SS11 Show

“The boys are part bourgeoisie, part rugged. They have swagger, but they are beautiful,” said Phillip Lim as his inspiration for the 3.1 Phillip Lim Men's SS11 show.
The lead artist Francelle Daly told us that the trend for this show was healthy, athletic skin - dewy, glowy finish with rosy cheeks. To quote her "They are like school boys – preppy and athletic but post-game they’re heading to dinner."
I absolutely love 3.1 Phillip Lim, I love the simplicity and every pieces are so wearable with a twist of style and edge. And I love NARS and François Nars. NARS are probably the most unique cosmetic company out there that creates high quality products.
I really like the concept behind this show and the model's skin look absolutely incredible with the NARS Product. The highlighted products used here are NARS Pure Radient Tinted Moisturizer (Out in February 2011), NARS Concealer, and NARS Cream Blush in Lokoum. The trend were dewy skin and flushed cheeks. Natural/Nude = Perfection!

Caran d'Ache by Alber Elbez

On Tuesday I was in Saville Row and I visited Lanvin. A huge store displaying mainly suits(Surprise, surprise.) Well on the glass table there was a big red box filled with exploding colours, as I look closer I see that it is the Caran d'Ache Supracolor box by Alber. It contains 120 original colours.

Caran d'Ache of Swizerland was named after the french cartoonist, Caran d'Ache who drew political caricatures for newspapers such as the Lundi du Figaro.

I have been using Caran d'Ache before I even l knew how to pronounce the name, my mum bought me a huge three tiers box which was in a shiny, sturdy silver case. My elder brothers and sister were furious. I had a lot of fun with it and grew up using it.

The box retail at Lanvin store for 450 pounds.
Interested? No? Should I get one?

Lanvin Autumn/Winter 2010/11 Feat. Alex Dunstan, and Thomas Penfound

Lanvin Campaign is much less interesting than the Spring/Summer 2010 but much more pleasing I must say. Love the clothes and the debonair-esque feel. Lanvin en Bleu is something I recently found out about, it is like a younger, spin off version of Lanvin which is only sold in Japan like Burberry Blue/Black Label, Neil Barrett's Blackbarrett etc. I will definitely check it out next time I visit Japan (hopefully soon.) Anyway I promise I'll talk more about other brands. Campaign shot by Inez and Vinoodh

Lanvin X H&M?

There has been a rumour that H&M next collaboration is said to be with Alber Elbaz from the french fashion house Lanvin. And don't we all love Lanvin. I am really excited about this. It is going be a huge step for the big Swedish brand and a very clever one, I must say. I am a huge fan of Lanvin for such a long time (not that I can afford most of their clothes) but I am always excited to see their shows.
This may be the best collaboration that H&M has created yet. Many people for sure will be lining up in front of H&M in the morning. I remember the Victor and Rolf collaboration back in 2006.... I will update once we get to see more stuff from H&M.
Check out this article at NY magazine for more info. So excited..

J'adore Hedi Slimane

I had an "Hedi" period, where I would look through his fashion diary and would obsess over the beauty of his photographs and the intense attitude of his models. I loved absolutely love everything from his designs at Dior Homme (sad he's no longer there but Kris Van Assche is great too) to his campaign for Prada. Hedi Slimane is a french fashion designer with Tunisian Heritage. He studied political sciences and Art history at the École du Louvre. He also worked at YSL before he became a designer for Dior. What an inspiration huh!
